Nicole sitting at her desk with a laptop and notebook

Hi there, my name is Nicole, or you can call me Nicky.

I’ve been a Christ follower for 55+ years. In that time, I’ve read the Bible from cover to cover at least three times and completed a Bible college degree. I left behind a career in communications to experience unpaid but busy, challenging and meaningful ministry.

At my last church, I also served as pastor’s wife when my husband completed seminary to become a pastor; one of five at a large church.

A few years later, that church suffered a catastrophic failure, the fallout leaving us both broken. It would be 22 years before I would call another church ‘home.’ This period of self-exile almost cost me my faith.

I am back, only this time, it’s different. It’s better. And my faith is slowly recovering. Church can still be difficult for me at times, but I am moving forward.

I have experienced church lost and found.

If you’ve given up on church, for whatever reason, and you want to find your way back, I’m glad you’re here because I’m writing this blog for you, and for me. We’re in this together.

I will be sharing my church journey, from my earliest memories to where I find myself now; ‘the good, the bad and the ugly’. I encourage you to add your comments; to share your own insights and experiences. I want this to be a safe place for you, for all of us, so I will be moderating the comments. There will be no judgement.

As I blog about my journey back to church or as you read a comment about someone else’s experience, something may resonate with you, and you’ll find you’re not alone; that there is hope. My prayer is that you’ll find your own way back to church – only church as it was meant to be – a place of spiritual growth, friendship, and purpose.

Jesus loved the church. He said He would build His church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it (Matt 16:18). It’s been around for almost two thousand years. It’s not going anywhere. And Jesus expects each of us to be a part it (1 Cor.12:27). For me now, there’s no getting around it. If you’re willing, let’s figure this out together.
